The findings saw Liberia emerging as the best country in the world when it comes to helping strangers.

While Liberia emerged in the first position, 7 other countries made it in the top 10 list. These are Sierra Leone (2nd), Kenya (4th), Zambia (5th), Uganda (6th), Nigeria (7th) and Malawi (10th).

Other findings indicated that worldwide, more than two and a half billion people helped a stranger over the past decade. China has the lowest Index score over the 10 years and is the only country that appears in the bottom 10 for all three measures ranked: helping a stranger, donating money and volunteering time.

Methodology

The CAF World Giving Index 10th edition report was drawn up by UK-based Charities Aid Foundation. The survey was conducted around the globe over a period of 10 years. In this time-frame, 1.3 million people across the world were surveyed.

The three main questions used in the survey bordered on having helped a stranger or someone you do not know, donating money to charity and volunteering time to an organization.
