Most Admired Black People in the World, 2018:

Barrack and Michelle are the world’s most admired black man and woman in YouGov’s annual study of which public figures the people of our planet look up to.

Past president and philanthropist Barrack Obama came first last time YouGov conducted the survey, while Oprah was second, but she was displaced this year by the former first lady.

This year, the study expanded to cover the views of people in 35 countries – the most ever – and means that YouGov interviewed more than 37,000 people to compile the list only three black people made the list..

Former US presidential couple Barack and Michelle Obama occupy the two second place spots making them the two most admired black people in the world, while Oprah Winfrey came behind Michelle Obama, making her the third.

The current survey saw Michelle Obama rising three places to take position as the most admired black woman in the world, a position that was previously held by Oprah Winfrey.

There was no change for Barack. He was the most admired black last year, he retained the position this year., On the general list, Barrack was ranked the Second Most admired man in the world, Bill gate came first.

The results are calculated from the combination of responses to two questions – whether a respondent admires the figure at all and then whether they are the figure the respondent admires the most. Each nation’s results in the global compilation are also weighted to represent the country’s population size.

In the list of global-only figures Obama ranks first in 19 countries, compared to only 6 for Bill Gates. However, as the former president performs relatively poorly in populous countries like China (7 ) and Russia (12 ), Gates – who places in the top four in every country listed –scoops the top spot.

American TV host Oprah Winfrey moved up one position to be the third most admired woman in the world, and second most admired black woman in the world,

METHODOLOGY

The results are calculated from the combination of responses to two questions – whether a respondent admires the figure at all and then whether they are the figure the respondent admires the most. Each nation’s results in the global compilation are also weighted to represent the country’s population size.

In December YouGov gathered open-ended nominations from panellists across 35 countries, asking them simply: “Thinking about people alive in the world today, which [man or woman] do you most admire?” These nominations were then used to compile a list of the 20 men and 20 women who received the most nominations and were nominated in at least four countries.
