Coronavirus in Africa: 111,825 Cases; 3,353 Deaths; 45,000 Recoveries (Updated)

Africa has lagged behind the global curve for coronavirus infections and deaths, but in the past few months has seen a significant rise in cases.

Here are the African countries with confirmed coronavirus cases

Currently there are more than 91,514 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the continent.

According to the latest data by the John Hopkins University and Africa Center for Disease Control on COVID-19 in Africa, the breakdown remains fluid as countries confirm cases as and when. There is no virus-free country in Africa as of May 17.

Cases in Africa have remained low compared to other continents.

South Africa still tops the chart of countries with the most cases in Africa with over 22,583 cases, with deaths numbering 429. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (17,265) Algeria (8,306), Nigeria (7,839), Morocco (7,433), and Ghana (6,683).

As of 25th of may, a tally of reported cases compiled by John Hopkins University and Africa Center for Disease Control stood at more than 110,000 for all of Africa.

Of these, more than 3,353 cases have been fatal.
