SA, Nigeria Ranked Among Countries With The Worst Suicide Rates By Spectator Index

Suicide is a tragedy that occurs in all times and places. However, suicide rates vary around the world before it was kind of hard knowing a country’s suicide rate, but now, there’s a map showing these differences.

Suicide rates in Africa

Nigeria placed fifth with 15,000 suicide in every 100,000 deaths.

Spectator Index recently published a World Health Organization research that ranked suicide per 100,000, per country.

The list proved one thing.. Nigerians are frustrated.

The list was topped by South Korea with 24 suicides per 100,000 people, followed by Russia with 18, then India with a rate of 16 and Japan placing 4th with 15.4

According to the research. Nigeria has the highest suicide rate in Africa –for which we have data – with 15,000 suicide deaths per 100,000 people, followed closely by South Africa with 12 deaths per 100,000 people.
