Mercer Consulting firm is a leading global human resources consultancy firm and each year it compiles the list of the most expensive cities to live in the world. Each year, the firm carries out surveys in 209 cities of the world and ranks them. The firm is based in New York city so it uses New York as the base city of its research.

Measuring each against prices found in New York City, mercer weighted and ranked countries based on these key affordability metrics: Cost of accommodation, feeding, groceries, transportation cost and services etc.

Mercer made a list of the top 209 most expensive cities in the world to live in. Here are the African countries that made the bottom list.
