Marvel’s critically acclaimed Black Panther continues to roar and pounce. The movie crossed the $1 billion mark on March 10, thereby becoming the first “all black cast” movie to do so.

Black Panther has so far grossed $520 million domestically, making it the ninth-highest release ever. Internationally, it could hit the $500 million mark this weekend, after a
strong opening in China.
The movie which has been lauded for its diversity as a big-budget superhero tentpole with a nearly all black cast. Set in the fictional African nation of Wakanda, Chadwick Boseman stars alongside Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira and Michael B. Jordan, is the 33rd ever to gross more than $1 billion. Fifteen other Disney films have that honor, as well as four other Marvel movies: The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron,
Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War.
It took Black Panther just 26 days to hit $1 billion, which puts the movie right in the middle of a pack led by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (12 days) and brought up in the rear by Jurassic Park (13 days), Furious 7 (17 days),
The Fate of the Furious (19 days).
Black Panther (Plot)
After the death of his father, T’Challa now prepares to be crowned the new king of Wakanda. However, T’Challa finds that his position is now being challenged by the appearance of an old enemy named Killmonger, which puts both Wakanda and the world at risk. Teaming with the Dora Milaje, his little sister Shuri, and his CIA ally Everett K. Ross, T’Challa must harness the powers of the Black Panther to fight his enemy and save Wakanda from destruction.
