Nyekachi Douglas, who represented Nigeria at the Miss World 2019 contest in London on December 14, won the title of Miss World Africa 2019 during the beauty pageant. The 21-year-old model qualified to the top five and was announced as the second runner-up of Miss World 2019. Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh was crowned Miss World 2019.

Douglas who competed with about 113 other beauty queens reached the top five at Miss World – losing out to Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh – and gained the title Miss World Africa, making her the first Nigerian to reach this level since 2004. In addition she was also named Miss World Top Model, won the head-to-head challenge, and reached the top 27 in Miss World Talent.

Miss Nyekachi Douglas, Miss World Africa 2019, also won the hearts of many with her rare display of excitement and joy after her fellow contestant, Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh was crowned winner of the 2019 Miss World competition.

Nyekachi Douglas hails from Ibaa, Emohua LGA, Rivers State. Although, she was born on the 28th of May, 1998 in Florida, U.S.A. The model lived in Tampa, Florida all her life but also makes out time to visit Nigeria often. Despite her background in the United States, the 21-year-old model represented Rivers state at the 2019 MBGN beauty Pageant.

Nyekachi Douglas had her primary, secondary and tertiary education in Tampa, Florida. She discovered her love for modelling while she was still schooling.

The 6 ft 1⁄2 inch model started her modelling career as a freelancer but it took her a while before she was discovered. Nyekachi Douglas recorded one of her milestones as she walked for Amalia Probowo at the 2017 New York Fashion Week.

She has also participated at the Arise Fashion Week that held earlier this year. At the 2019 Arise Fashion Week, Douglas worked with popular designers like Lanre DaSilva, Papa Oppong, Odio Mimonet and many others. She also worked alongside superstar models like Naomi Campbell.

Nyekachi Douglas was crowned the MBGN this year as she represented Rivers state at the just concluded beauty pageant. She will be representing Nigeria at the Miss World beauty pageant contest. This contest is set to hold in the United Kingdom.
