The 2017 Global Peace Index has placed Mauritius as the most peaceful country in Africa.

Top 10 Most Peaceful Countries in Africa 2017​

The Global Index, produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace ranks 163 countries covering 99.7% of the world’s population. The index looks at 23 indicators covering the level of safety and security in society, the degree of domestic or international conflict, and the level of militarisation.

Highlights
Maritius grabbed the number one spot overall in Africa, and 22 globally. scoring high for safety and security they are closely followed by Botswana, senegal and zambia. See full list below.
