Accidents are unavoidable, there are road accidents which involves cars, motorcycles etc, sea accidents (ship, boats etc) and also air accidents (aircrafts etc). 7. Dana Air Flight 992
on sunday 3 of june 2012, dana air flight 992 while on a trip to lagos from abuja crashed crashed into a furniture works and printing press building in the Iju- Ishaga neighbourhood of Lagos. The crash resulted in the deaths of all 153 people on board and 10 more on the ground.
The crash is also the second-deadliest aircraft crash on Nigerian soil, behind the Kano air disaster of 1973 which killed 173 people. : Source

6. Inex-Adria Aviopromet Flight 1308
On December 1, 1981, Inex-Adria Aviopromet Flight 1308 crashed on Corsica’s Mont San-Pietro, killing all 180 people on board.
The Aircraft took off from Brnik Airport on a chartered flight from Slovenia (at the time Yugoslavia) to Corsica’s capital city of Ajaccio with 173 Slovenian tourists and 7 crew members. At some point, the co-pilot allowed his young son enter the cockpit. While in its holding pattern, the flight was instructed to descend through the minimum holding altitude of 6,800 feet. As it descended, its Ground Proximity Warning System gave off several audio warnings, prompting the crew to increase the engine thrust but the was too late as before he could do anything, One of the aircraft’s wings collided with the summit of Mont San- Pietro and broke off. The aircraft then went into an uncontrolled dive and violently crashed on the other side of the mountain, killing everyone on board. : Source
5. American Airlines Flight 587
On November 12, 2001, the Airbus A300-600 flying the route crashed into the Belle Harbor neighborhood of Queens, a borough of New York City, shortly after takeoff. All 260 people on board the flight were killed, along with five people on the ground. It is the second-deadliest aviation incident in New York state; The location of the accident and the fact that it took place two months and one day after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in Manhattan initially spawned fears of another terrorist attack. But after an intensive investigation, Terrorism was officially ruled out as the cause by the National Transportation Safety Board, which instead attributed the disaster to the first officer’s overuse of rudder controls in response to wake turbulence or jet wash from a Japan Airlines Boeing 747-400 that took off minutes before it. According to the NTSB, this aggressive use of the rudder controls by the co-pilot caused the vertical stabilizer to snap off the plane. The plane’s two engines also separated from the aircraft before it hit the ground killing all 260 people onboard. : Source
4. The 2003 Iran Ilyushin Il-76 crash
On 19 February 2003, Iran Ilyushin Il-76 carrying members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, a special force that is independent from the Iranian Army crashed in when an Ilyushin Il-76 crashed in a mountainous terrain near Kerman in Iran while on an unknown mission. Before the crash Strong winds were reported in the region of the crash when the aircraft disappeared from the radar screens; approximately at the same time, villagers in the area described hearing a loud explosion. There were no survivors among the 275 occupants on board the aircraft.
As of November 2014 the crash remains the deadliest crash on Iranian soil. There was speculation that the accident was the result of a mid-air collision due to the high number of fatalities (the Il-76 normally carries fewer than 200 passengers). A terrorist organization called the Abu-Bakr Brigades also claimed responsibility for the crash. : Source
3. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17/MAS17)
the malaysian airline flight 17 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that crashed on 17 July 2014 after being shot down, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board. The Boeing 777-200ER airliner lost contact about 50 km (31 mi) from the Ukraine– Russia border and crashed near Torez in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, 40 km (25 mi) from the border. The crash occurred during the Battle in Shakhtarsk Raion, part of the ongoing war in Donbass, in an area controlled by the Donbass People’s Militia. According to American and German intelligence sources, the plane was mistakenly shot down by pro-Russian insurgents using a Buk surface-to-air missile (SA-11) fired from the territory which they controlled.
The crash was Malaysia Airlines’ worst incident and its second of the year, after the disappearance of Flight 370 four months earlier.: Source
2. Turkish Airlines Flight 981
The turkish airline flight 981 was a regularly scheduled flight from Istanbul Atatürk Airport to London Heathrow Airport with an intermediate stop in Paris at Orly Airport. On March 3, 1974, the flight crashed into the Ermenonville forest outside Paris, after an improperly secured cargo door at the rear of the plane broke off, causing an explosive decompression which severed cables necessary to control the aircraft. Because of a known design flaw left uncorrected before and after the production of DC-10s, the cargo hatches did not latch reliably. the crash killed all 346 people on board. till date the crash is still the deadliest to have occurred on French soil: Source
1. The Tenerife airport disaster
The tenerife airport disaster was a fatal runway collision between two Boeing 747s on Sunday, March 27, 1977, at Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport) and wa s as a result of lack of communication
The resulting collision destroyed both aircraft, killing all 248 aboard the KLM flight and 335 of 396 aboard the Pan Am flight. Making it a total of 583. Sixty-one people aboard the Pan Am flight, including the pilots and flight engineer, survived the disaster.
The accident had a lasting influence on the industry, particularly in the area of communication. An increased emphasis was placed on using standardized phraseology in ATC communication by controllers and pilots alike, thereby reducing the chance for misunderstandings. As part of these changes, the word “takeoff” was removed from general usage, and is only spoken by ATC when clearing an aircraft to take off or when cancelling that same clearance. Less experienced flight crew members were encouraged to challenge their captains when they believed something was not correct, and captains were instructed to listen to their crew and evaluate all decisions in light of crew concerns. This concept was later expanded into what is known today as Crew Resource Management (CRM), in which training is now mandatory for all airline pilots.
