2. Essence – (180 million views)

Wizkid essence features fellow Nigerian singer Tems and it was released on 30 October 2020, as the fourth single from Wizkid’s fourth studio album, Made in Lagos. The song was produced by P2J and Legendury Beatz. Essence” is the first Nigerian song in history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200. The song received a nomination at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Performance. The song is currently ranked second on this list of Wizkid’s Most Viewed Music Videos On Youtube.

3. “Come Closer” – (141 million views)

Come closer is Wizkid’s second most watched music video on youtube. The song is also the first Nigerian video to garner a million views within 24 hours. The song was released as the third single from Wizkid’s third studio album, Sounds from the Other Side. In September 2020, Wizkid became the first African artist to be certified Gold (both) as a featured and lead artist in the United States, as Come Closer sold 500,000 units.

The song by which was realeased under this record label Starboy Entertainment features three other Nigerian artistes; Terri, Spotless and Ceeza Milli – all signed to Starboy Ent. The song which was released in February 2018, was certified Gold by Music Canada in 2020, making it the only Nigerian song without a major label certified in the West.

Ojuelegba highlights Wizkid’s struggles when he was unknown artiste roaming the streets of Ojuelegba looking for who to support his dreams. The song received numerous airplay on all major radio stations in Nigeria, and peaked at number 1 on Capital Xtra’s Afrobeats Chart for February 2015. The official remix of “Ojuelegba” features vocals by Drake and English grime artist Skepta. Ojuelegba is Wizkid’s 6th most viewed music video on youtube.

Wizkid started recording music at age 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

In 2009, he signed a record deal with Banky w’s Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to prominence in 2010 with the release of the song “Holla at Your Boy” from his debut studio album, Superstar (2011). “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull”, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo” and “Oluwa Lo Ni” were also released as singles from the Superstar album.

In February 2014, Wizkid became the first ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million followers on Twitter. Ayo, his self-titled second studio album, was released in September 2014. It was supported by six singles: “Jaiye Jaiye”, “On Top Your Matter”, “One Question”, “Joy”, “Bombay” and “Show You the Money”. Following the release of his second studio album and expiration of his 5-year recording contract, Wizkid left E.M.E and flaunted his own record label Starboy Entertainment.

In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition After Drake remixed his hit “Ojuelegba,” the rising talent made the leap to international star, landing on Drake’s hit single “One Dance” which reached number one in 15 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia and signing a major deal with RCA and Sony.

In addition to his solo work, Wizkid has collaborated with several other artists and was featured on the hits “Girl” (with Bracket), “Fine Lady” (with Lynxxx), “Sexy Mama” (with Iyanya), “Slow Down” (with R2Bees), “The Matter” (with Maleek Berry), “Pull Over” (with KCee) and “Bad Girl” (with Jesse Jagz). In July 2019, Wizkid was featured on “Brown Skin Girl”, a track from Beyoncé’s compilation album The Lion King: The Gift. He appeared on the track alongside Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy.

On March 14, the Nigerian superstar won his first grammy plaque at the 63rd Grammy Award for his role on Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’.

On 30 October 2020 he published his fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, which received critical acclaim, confirming the international chart success of the previous project. Made in Lagos contains the single “Essence”, which became the first Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

More Love, Less Ego is the fifth studio album by Nigerian singer Wizkid. It was released on 11 November 2022 through RCA Records and Starboy Entertainment. The album features guest appearances from Ayra Starr, Skillibeng, Shenseea, Skepta, Naira Marley, and Don Toliver. Production was handled by P2J, Kel-P, KDaGreat, Sammy Soso, P Priime, Juls, Kofo, and Euro. It serves as the follow-up to Wizkid’s previous album, Made in Lagos (2020).
